GECO Expo, the virtual sustainability exhibition<\/strong><\/a>, is about to open its digital space to visitors, buyers and exhibitors interested in eco-friendly innovation, for the second year in a row. The event, which will be held from 1 to 4 March<\/strong>, has a programme full of interesting content, which will address the issue of sustainability in different thematic areas: renewable energy, eco-food, tourism and MICE, circular economy, sustainable mobility, technology, fashion and more<\/strong>. The panels will be attended by representatives of institutions, researchers and lecturers from prestigious universities, as well as representatives of major brands such as Diadora, Too Good To Go, NABA, Enel X, Almacube, Fondazione Barilla, Sorgenia, Renexia, ZeroCo2, Urban Vision<\/strong> and many more. Here are some of this year’s most interesting talks in the second edition of GECO Expo.<\/p>\n

Climate crisis: how is our planet doing? Zeroing co2 emissions is not enough. Innovative solutions for the storage and reuse of co2<\/h3>\n

On March 1st, starting at 9.30 a.m., the event will kick off with a panel on a key subject: the climate crisis. The focus will be on the perspective of enterprises and the solutions that each company can adopt to face the challenge of global warming and CO2 emissions. Reducing CO2 emissions is not enough to guarantee the achievement of the climate targets we have set ourselves at European and global level. What other solutions are there? Leading international experts, such as Prof. Stefano Caserini, Professor of Climate Change Mitigation at the Politecnico di Milano at the Politecnico di Milano, researcher and author of numerous publications on these issues, will debate these issues.<\/p>\n

Innovation and sustainability in support of a smart city model: collaborative, participatory and inclusive<\/h3>\n

Smart cities are another important topic in the GECO Expo panels. On March 2nd there will be a panel dedicated to the “smart” evolution of urban spaces and how the challenge of overpopulation of cities can be tackled by reprogramming the way we organise and conceive urban centres in general. Spaces must reflect the society that inhabits them, and our societies are no longer the same as the ones that shaped the cities we live in today. Our future society will be environmentally and sustainably aware, but also sensitive to the needs of the individual, and our cities must reflect these values. So what will the ‘smart cities’ of the future look like?<\/p>\n

“Bleisure” phenomenon and “workation”: new needs of travellers and travel policies<\/h3>\n

We have already published a post on this topic<\/strong><\/a>, talking about the Travel for Business survey that will be presented at this workshop on March 2nd. Of all the trends that are changing the landscape of the travel industry, ‘bleisure’ and ‘workation’ are among the most interesting, as they combine the needs of business travel with the pleasure and relaxation of holidays and focus as much on the needs of the professional\/company as on those of the individual. The panelists will present the survey and its results and comment on what this research, the first of its kind in Italy, has shown, in order to understand the direction in which the travel industry will have to evolve in the coming years.<\/p>\n

Time for sustainability beyond the travel crisis!<\/h3>\n

This is an event in English, designed for international audiences interested in sustainability issues within the travel and tourism industry. It will address the priorities that travel and tourism stakeholders must pursue in this complex and delicate phase, as we move forward from the pandemic crisis and re-shape the entire industry around the concepts of environmental, social and economic sustainability. This round table will focus on business travel, taking into account a variety of different perspectives.<\/p>\n

From consumer to business: sustainable purchasing and conscious use to reduce food waste<\/h3>\n

On March 3rd, a round table will be held at GECO Expo on a key topic: the sustainability of our food. The food industry is responsible for a large percentage of our global emissions and its sustainability can only be achieved through a combination of conscious consumer choices and virtuous practices on the part of companies involved in the production chain. ReduPanelists with outstanding expertise in this field will be discussing the topic, such as Cristina Gabetti, journalist and author of books and TV programmes on sustainable lifestyles, and Guendalina Graffigna, Professor of Consumer and Health Psychology at the Universit\u00e0 Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza and Director of the EngageMinds HUB – Consumer, Food & Health Engagement Research Centre.<\/p>\n

Smart talk video contest: the second edition of GECO Expo rewards the most innovative projects<\/h3>\n

For the second year in a row, GECO Expo will award prizes for the most interesting smart talks. Smart talks are short videos presenting projects related to sustainability and biodiversity. Participants in the contest are individuals, groups, companies, teams or institutions and their projects present innovative and sustainable solutions that can be applied in different areas of our private, professional or collective lives. The videos and projects were assessed by a jury of experts chaired by Antonio Rancati, general coordinator of CETRI-TIRES. The jury also included representatives of some of the most important Italian startup accelerators, such as Eleonora Coppola, startup manager of Le Village by CA Triveneto, Lorenzo Boldrini, venture builder & startup coach of PoliHub, the startup accelerator of the Politecnico di Milano, and top influencer Silvia Moroni, content creator specialised in sustainable food and lecturer at the Lorenzo de’ Medici University Institute on sustainable gastronomy.<\/p>\n
