Their digital strategy has evolved over time, but the Royal Family has always had one goal: to share their story with the world. It is worth noting that they feature on social media as &#8220;The Royal Family&#8221; rather than &#8220;The British Royal Family&#8221;. Not only because they were the first to jump on the social media band wagon, but because, by the time social media rolled around, the British Monarchy was already an inherent part of international pop culture, so much so that mentions of &#8220;the Royal Family&#8221; can&#8217;t be misconstrued as referring to any other dynasty of monarchs.<\/p>\n<h3>The first email<\/h3>\n<p>Queen Elizabeth II was the first monarch to send an email in 1976. The message was sent on the Arpanet network, which was the forerunner of today\u2019s world wide web.
