The events industry has long been aware of its environmental impact and the CO2 emissions generated at conferences, meetings, trade shows, conventions, and even virtual events. However, individual organisers often struggle to find clear and reliable information on how to calculate an event’s carbon footprint, which includes the emissions that can be directly and indirectly traced back to the event itself. It is not always easy to assess and quantify this and, above all, to devise an effective strategy to offset it or at least reduce it, aiming for climate neutrality. In this post, we will try to provide some insight into how each event can be made sustainable and which indicators should be considered when assessing its impact.
