Something’s shifting in how companies approach December. Attendance at traditional office parties has dropped significantly. Internationally, companies are registering a decrease in the number of employees that attend company events after work hours, according to multiple recent studies. At the same time, many organisations have stopped hosting Christmas parties and winter celebrations altogether, well aware that the old model isn’t working anymore. It’s clear that workplace celebrations and winter eventsneed rethinking. Add in the reality that modern workforces include colleagues from dozens of different cultural and religious backgrounds, and the challenge becomes obvious.
