Carbon neutrality is one of the most important issues of our time: every citizen, household, public administration, or organization has an impact on climate change by consuming fossil fuels and other greenhouse gas emitting products or processes. To achieve carbon neutrality, it is necessary to balance the CO2 emitted into the atmosphere and the CO2 reduced or captured by the atmosphere over a given time period. This balance can be achieved in a variety of ways, but all require upfront investment and ongoing analysis. An additional burden of staying carbon neutral means that resources must be examined before purchasing – will buying this product make our company more efficient or just more wasteful? Will we need to make sacrifices to our business model in order to become carbon neutral?
