Their partnership with GECO, a benefit startup also ISO 20121 certified, enables calculation and compensation of event-generated carbon emissions—critical for understanding true environmental footprint.

Practical implementation through partnership

The AITMM National Conference illustrates how this operates. The client requested sustainable event management applying ISO 20121 principles whilst maintaining participant experience quality.

Smart Eventi selected Officine De Rolandi, itself ISO 20121 certified, as the venue. GECO coordinated data collection from all stakeholders—location, catering, suppliers—feeding information into carbon footprint calculation platforms. This transparency reveals actual environmental impact rather than assumptions.

The conference programme blended sustainability with engagement: conference sessions alternated with networking opportunities and entertainment, including photo booths and performances, alongside Daniele Capogna’s presentation on ESG integration in event management.
