Greenwashing: bad for the planet, worse for your business

Written by Angela
As the general awareness of sustainability issues raises, most companies are being driven to take action. The tendency to implement sustainable policies and subscribe to CO2 emission offsetting programmes has proven extremely beneficial for the companies that chose to “go green”, as multiple surveys have shown that an increasing number of consumers actively research sustainable companies, boycott non-sustainable ones and are ready to spend more for products that are manufactured in an eco-friendly way or services by environmentally-conscious companies. Inevitably, this has piqued the interest of thousands of enterprises, not all of which are as interested in reducing their environmental impact as they are in reaping the rewards of appearing to do so. This has created the phenomenon currently known as “greenwashing”.
