Paint Company: a team building activity to boost creativity and harmony

It’s all about creativity

The activity we came up with was a group-building exercise involving creative work.

In order to get the best out of the experience, we decided to propose one of our signature team-building activities: what we call “paint company.” Each team works on an individual canvas or panel, each member contributing their own designs and ideas; at the end of the activity, all the panels are assembled together into a single final painting that is the result of everyone’s work. This not only creates an interesting final product, but also encourages collaboration among people who might otherwise not have a chance to get to know one another within the company.

The perfect team building to bring harmony to the workplace

The client was thrilled with how well-received this activity was among his employees. They were all eager to get started and collaborated effectively for most of the activity—which made for some pretty great paintings!

The best way to build a company is to start with its people. At least that’s what we believe, and we’re sure the research agrees. And so the first step in building a strong team is getting everyone on board with your vision and in sync with your goals. Getting everyone focused on one thing can be difficult, especially if you’re dealing with a big group of employees who are used to working individually. That’s why we always recommend targeted activities like the “paint company” activity, where small groups work together to create a unified message or mark an important new step. This team building activity allows teams to collaborate in harmony while establishing the culture they wish to obtain in the workplace.

Communing with nature

The goal of this team building activity was to create a message that had to do with balance. To bring people together, we decided to engage them by making the work with natural materials like lentils, corn and beans.

This could also be translated into an art installation where the pieces would be hung up or presented in a way that would depict balance from a different perspective.

The result was a picture of a field of wheat and flowers that took shape by joining the canvases of the different teams.

For our team building, we chose a location in the Milanese hinterland surrounded by nature, a farmstead where our guests were able to work under a porch surrounded by plants and illuminated by autumn sunlight. A beautiful place that offered a wonderful experience of nature.

Participants expressed their appreciation for the activity, which they recognised as an effective way to build team spirit.

Leaving with a new awareness of the team’s potential

After the team building exercise was done, the participants had deeper understanding of each other, greater awareness of the importance of cooperation and collaboration, and a better grasp on how to work together in harmony. The team now understood that harmony and balance are the necessary elements for a team to function well. The team was fired up and ready to function as a cohesive unit, bringing out their best performance in all their endeavors.
