Fuorisalone 2023: What to expect from “Laboratorio futuro”

The theme for Fuorisalone 2023 is “Laboratorio Futuro”

Fuorisalone turns 21 this year and will continue to be held in conjunction with the “Salone del Mobile” furniture fair in Milan. This edition’s name is “Laboratorio Futuro“.

Participants will contribute to the discussion on the future’s shape from April 17 to 23 while taking into account the themes of sustainable productivity, the circular economy, as well as artificial intelligence, a reality that is taking up more and more space and with which we must come to terms. In exhibitions, installations, and discussion panels, designers and architects will discuss how to “design tomorrow,” as well as schools, businesses, universities, and other organizations.

The “oracle” of Fuorisalone

The Studiolabo-created project consists of a deck of 28 illustrated playing cards that were printed in a limited edition by a renowned printing house in Rome and feature quotes from designers, writers, artists, and poets. This tool, like the ancient oracles that provided answers to postulants’ questions, is intended to motivate the artists attending Fuorisalone.

Interactive-perceptual exercise “Trame”

At the Acquario Civico in Milan, this project will take shape as an interactive sound and visual installation where each gesture can alter the shared experience and in turn be altered by it.

Fuorisalone Award

A technical committee and the editorial team of “Fuorisalone.it” will name four special mentions for the categories of interaction, sustainability, technology, and communication. The Fuorisalone Award will honor the best content and installations presented by Italian and international companies and designers. The “Menzione Salone del Mobile.Milano: luce per la città,” selected by “Salone del Mobile.Milano,” for the lighting project with the greatest social impact, is a definite novelty in this edition.

Districts

The 14th edition of Brera Design Week, which will focus on current events and the key trends in the design industry with a special focus on the new generations, cannot be overlooked. Previews of the Design Districts 2023 were also presented. Including exhibitions and installations, 7 brand-new openings, and 183 ongoing design showrooms, Brera Design District will host nearly 200 events. This cannot be missed.
