Soaring and elongating shapes, like an unbridled wave growing taller and stronger, a wave that carries thoughts and images, defining new codes and a new style, a style that evolves while staying true to itself. From this emerges a new vision of women, an aristocratic vision with punk overtones, in which women pursue their liberation from the aesthetic canons and constraints of the past. Contrasting patterns and materials, a vibrant and ever-changing colour palette of bold, dystonic tones: these were the main elements emerging on the catwalks at the latest edition of the Milan Fashion Week. The event was hosted through the successful collaboration between Daniele Calcaterra and Smart Eventi, which has been managing Fashion Week event planning for the Milanese designer for some time. We were delighted to interview him, to discuss the merits of his collection and our most recent collaboration.

We have just attended the presentation of the Fall Winter 23-24 collection. A collection that aims to express the dynamism of a cyclic movement that evolves and grows. How do you express this concept through the shapes and volumes of your pieces, in relation to the importance you have always attached to womanhood?
First of all, this is a wave that connects us to the female liberation that has been going on since the 1930s. Woman broke free from rigid canons, were liberated and evolved intoto their fullest beauty and character. They were freed from all constraints. What are the canons of this collection?
First of all, the collection is inspired by the concept of purity expressed by light, neutral colours, right through to red, the new green and black. Three colours, therefore, with strong characters and identities, coming together to create a very sophisticated image. Furthermore, it is a collection that uses asymmetries, nuances, but also real, textured cuts that recall the movement of waves. A very elliptical, sinuous movement, which, however, can simultaneously be very strong, very overwhelming, just like a woman.
Can we therefore suggest that the purpose of this collection is in a way to liberate women, to revolutionise them, as they strive for liberation not only in society but also within the fashion industry?
To me women are free, they are among the most beautiful and freest beings in existence, because they express such magnificent qualities. Nowadays, I think it is a bit too presumptuous to think that I can liberate women with a fashion collection. I only want women who wear my collections to look beautiful, sensual and, above all, with a strong sense of character. I think this is the only task I can hope to accomplish.
We would like to conclude by congratulating you on your remarks and on the collection you have created. How are you getting on with our Event Beauty Manager Ylenia and the event organisation agency Smart Eventi?
Extremely well, I must say that they are all incredibly nice people, professional and aligned with our core values, our brand and our idea of a working relationship.
