More than a symbolic act, this dispersed forest reflects an ambition to embed sustainability at the heart of healthcare practice. Engaging local communities, working with regional farms and social cooperatives, AIOM and its partner GECO oversee every step from planting to monitoring: a model of transparency, accountability, and social plus environmental return.

From congress to concrete green impact

The idea for ForestAIOM was unveiled during the opening of the XXVII Congress in Rome, consolidating oncology excellence with ecological responsibility. 500 trees planted is only the start: AIOM plans to replicate this initiative annually, particularly in regions hosting its events, transforming each congress into a moment of regeneration for the territory.

Through this approach, AIOM turns symposium footprints into green legacies — a “give‑back” to the land and communities hosting medical professionals and patients alike.

Bridging care and climate: why it matters

Cancer care and environmental health are inherently connected. As one leading scientist (the neuroscientist Stefano Mancuso) reminded at the same Congress, “we cannot heal people on a sick planet” — pollution, resource depletion and climate change pose health challenges that go beyond individual diseases.
